About Us & FAQs

Your health and wellness is our priority.

Rehabilitation can be challenging, so let us help you.

Markovic Physical Therapy is a privately owned, outpatient physical therapy practice located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania.  Doctor of Physical Therapy and Owner, Kevin Markovic, desired to bring a specialized and patient-centered approach to physical rehabilitation.  We achieve this through reducing the burden patients may face with ever-rising healthcare costs and access challenges while putting the focus back where it belongs - on you, the patient.

Markovic Physical Therapy operates under a cash-based model.  Through this approach, the overall cost of your care can be reduced each session by eliminating the compounding costs placed on an individual through use of their private insurance such as high co-pays, high deductibles, and co-insurances.  While the average Physical Therapy Evaluation and/or Treatment can cost up to several hundred dollars even with insurance, patients of Markovic Physical Therapy will pay a fraction of that cost without sacrificing quality of care.

FAQs Regarding Cash-Based PT Practice

Is cash-based physical therapy really more affordable than using my personal health insurance?

For a large number of people, the answer is yes it can be.  While not all insurance plans and associated coverage are the same, if you find yourself with a high deductible plan, large co-insurance, out-of-pocket max, or are using a community health-sharing plan, cash-based service providers can often offer a more affordable option.

Am I excluded from choosing a cash-based provider if I have personal health insurance?

No.  While exceptions to this exist (ex. Medicare and Medicaid plans), you as the patient can decide where to be seen if you are opting for self-pay.

Can I personally submit for reimbursement through my insurance for the cost of my PT if I elect to self-pay?

This gets tricky, but the short answer is it depends.  A number of factors play into this including :

  • the type of insurance
  • if it requires a pre-authorization process
  • their policy on reimbursement

It is up to each patient to research this with their own insurance company and understand their benefits prior to attempting to submit any claim on their own behalf.

Do I have to see my doctor and obtain a referral prior to being seen?

At Markovic Physical Therapy, a patient may be seen through a direct-access model of care which allows the patient to come directly to PT without the need to consult with their primary care physician or specialist first.  This is just another example of the cost-savings that can occur with this type of patient-center service.
